About us

Is horse riding something you’ve always wanted to do?

At Granlea Riding Centre, providing a pathway for all to realise their horse riding dreams is our passion! We pride ourselves on creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, a safe learning environment and expert guidance to suit riders all ages and experience levels.

Located just 13 minutes from the Rockhampton CBD and open 6 days a week, Granlea offers a range of lesson time-slots to ensure riding is accessible for workers, busy parents and families. Our horses are quiet, reliable and gentle in nature however we also offer the ability to take lessons on your own mount.

Our team

FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED

Our family operated business provides qualified, professional and friendly instructors who take care of all aspects of riding to ensure clients can focus on their riding priorities.

​

We offer riders invaluable insight into the trends within the equestrian industry imparting excellent first hand practical horse presentation training, teaching high standards of personal rider presentation, quality riding coaching. We cater to all levels of riders, and promote riding opportunities on a national, state and local level, and support those involved with inter-school competitions.

Grant Paddison

Grant Paddison, is an experienced Equestrian Australia (EA), Level 1 (General) equestrian coach and Pony Club Australia (Level B) Coach. Grant is also qualified as an EA Skill Specific Trainer and Assessor and qualified in intermediate Coaching Principles. He has also studied Agronomy and Animal Production at Gatton University. Grant has a life long history competing in eventing and bringing on young performance horses.

​

Grant has had a lifetime of experience working successfully in the horse industry throughout Australia. He has many years of experience teaching clients and tourists during lesson or trail riding situations, working with disadvantaged children both physically and mentally as well as mentoring other riding coaches in their development of their skills. He has managed the welfare of competitive race horses ensuring clean and safe environments, supervising strict feeding regimes and conducting daily training programs. He has successfully coached riders and teams at regional, state and national levels.

2001 saw the conception of ‘Granlea Riding Centre’. Grant now enjoys his business and has won the Rockhampton Regional ‘Small Business of the Year Award’ for two consecutive years.

Julie Paddison

Julie Paddison, is an enthusiastic qualified primary teacher, school equestrian manager, qualified in Level 1 Coaching Principles, possesses an EA Introductory Horse Management Certificate and an EA Introductory Riding Certificate. Julie enjoys working along side her husband in the riding school.

​

Her experience handling livestock extends from many years working on her family property exhibiting produce at shows, events and expos. Julie’s school equestrian team has received numerous awards, the most prestigious among those being Education Queensland Showcase Award ‘Horses for Courses’ program and Australia Day Award Junior sports team for the year.

Volunteers

Granlea Riding Centre acknowledges the contributions that their volunteers make. Without the volunteers giving their generous time it would be difficult to run the fabulous programs including pony parties, team building, competitions, stable duties and horse holiday fun.
